2025-26 School Year Employment Opportunities

Fairville Friends School is seeking enthusiastic and creative people who love working with children to serve as teaching assistants for the 2025-26 school year. Our staff recognize and nurture the light within each child, help spark joy in learning, model peaceful conflict resolution, and promote a sense of belonging in the wider community.

Our mission at Fairville Friends School is to seek spiritual and intellectual growth by fostering an appreciation of nature, celebrating diversity, and encouraging self-expression through the arts. Our school embraces the Quaker vision of education through simplicity, kindness, respect for all living things, and a deep concern for the whole child. By allowing each child's Inner Light to shine, the school reflects the core belief of the Religious Society of Friends: that there is that of God in everyone.

We are seeking responsible, reliable caregivers to serve as assistants supporting the lead classroom teacher in a three-morning or five-morning preschool classroom. These salaried positions are part-time, and staff are expected to be present at school from 8:15-12:30/1:00. Assistant teachers participate fully in the life of the school, including attending fundraising and other events, and participating in staff meetings. This role requires full participation in the physical aspects of working with young children in an active, outdoor, nature-based setting. We look for staff who show an interest in Quaker education, appreciation for the role of art in learning, and a love of nature.

It is preferred that assistant teachers will have experience working with young children and/or possess a Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood or a related field. Other requirements include:

  • Experience with and love of young children.

  • Patience, compassion, and sense of humor.

  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.

  • Appreciation of the natural world, including animals.

  • A flexible, responsive approach to supporting children with a range of needs, learning styles, and developmental stages.

  • Enthusiasm for working closely and collaboratively with colleagues.

  • Interest in and willingness to learn about Quaker education.

  • Completion of all federal and Pennsylvania state clearances and trainings required for working in a school setting.
