School History

Fairville Friends School was established in 1973 by Quaker teacher Barbara DesJardins in her schoolhouse home on Fairville Road. The school grew and passed through a succession of buildings along Kennett Pike to its present home at Woodward Farm in 1988.

Fairville Friends School operates in a caring relationship with Kennett Monthly Meeting and is a member of Friends Council on Education. We follow guidelines established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) for developmentally appropriate practice and believe that, to be successful life-long learners, young children need to be actively involved in a wide variety of stimulating and engaging activities.
